Valorant 12.03 Patch: Gekko Buff, 2v2 Skirmish, and APAC MFA
Valorant patch 12.03 delivers a Gekko buff, reclaimable Mosh Pit, Skirmish 2v2 gunplay, and APAC MFA.
Riot Games rolled out Valorant patch 12.03 on February 17, 2026, and the update is a mixed bag of agent tuning, a limited-time mode, and a security crackdown. There is no massive meta overhaul here, but there is plenty under the hood to keep ranked grinders and casual players on their toes. From a small but meaningful Gekko buff to the arrival of a 2v2 gunplay-only queue, the patch has something for almost everyone.

🦎 Gekko Gets a Slight Power Buff
Cut to the chase: Gekko is the headliner. Since patch 11.08, Riot has heard feedback that the initiator felt substantially weaker than his peers, with fewer opportunities to play around Reclaim. The 12.03 changes aim to unify the ruleset for all of Gekko's abilities, give him more flexibility in reclaiming Globules, and provide a slight power buff overall.
The headline change is that Mosh Pit is now reclaimable. That is a real quality-of-life boost and gives Gekko more ways to recycle his utility. The trade-off? His Globules now take 20 seconds to recall, up from 15 seconds. In other words, the devil is in the details: players get more flexibility, but they also need to be more deliberate about when they send their buddy out. Riot's note explains that the goal is to unify how all of Gekko's abilities work, and the tweak should help him feel less one-dimensional.
| Ability | Change |
|---|---|
| Globules | Reclaim timer increased from 15s to 20s |
| Mosh Pit | Now reclaimable |
| Overall | Aimed at a slight power buff and more Reclaim flexibility |
🔫 Skirmish 2v2: No Abilities, No Strings Attached
The other big draw is Skirmish, which arrives as a limited-time 2v2 matchmaking queue. Riot is billing it as 'compact maps, no abilities—gunplay only,' which is a far cry from the usual utility-heavy dance. Players can solo queue or bring a partner, and the first side to 10 rounds wins.
There is no economy to manage, either. Full weapon selection is available each round, agent select is out, and maps are randomly chosen from Skirmish A, Skirmish B, and Skirmish C. The mode is designed to let players hone their mechanics in tight spaces and hop in and go next fast. If you have been looking for a no-frills way to warm up or settle a friendly grudge, this is your ace in the hole. It is not rocket science: pure aim, quick rounds, and no ability spam.
🔐 MFA Rolls Out to APAC
On the security side, Riot is expanding multi-factor authentication in APAC. Accounts flagged for sharing and all Ascendant+ players in the region must now enable Riot Mobile MFA to access Competitive queue. Other modes remain unaffected. This brings APAC in line with EU, NA, LATAM, BR, and KR players, and it is another step in the ongoing crackdown on smurfs and account sharing. The bottom line: if you are climbing the ranked ladder in APAC, make sure your MFA is set up before you queue.
🎧 Quality-of-Life Changes and Esports Updates
Patch 12.03 also includes a few quieter but welcome changes. Audio occlusion now responds to map doorways being opened, closed, or destroyed, which should make sound cues more reliable. When watching Replays, players now have a setting to skip spectating dead players—handy for cutting dead time.
For esports fans, Masters Santiago Pick'Ems return starting February 19 (PT). Players can make picks for the Swiss Stage in-client and on the web, predict which teams will advance from the 8-Team Swiss Groups, and earn bonus points for calling a 2-0 team. An exclusive title is available just for playing, with additional prizes depending on how picks fare against other players. VCT player stats are also now available on the Esports Hub Teams page.
🛠️ All Random One Site, Battlepass, and Store Notes
Elsewhere, Riot has taken a pass on Stages and Loadouts for All Random One Site. The mode is chaotic by design, but the team added weapons to a few stages and buffed some niche options. A bug where Vyse could continuously place infinite Razorvines during the Buy phase has been fixed.
There are a few known issues, too. Hitting ESC in the Battlepass causes elements to disappear and reappear instead of taking you back a page, and the scroll wheel currently does not work when navigating between tiers on the Battlepass or Event Pass. Both are slated for fixes in patch 12.04. On the store side, the accessories store background is missing, and the Reaver Bandit is incorrectly showing as a limited edition item—neither is intended, and both will be resolved in 12.04. The Event Pass and Battlepass have also received refreshed layouts and button visuals, with tier navigation via mouse or arrow keys.
🏁 The Bottom Line
Patch 12.03 is not a game changer in the traditional sense, but it hits the nail on the head for players who wanted Gekko to feel more flexible. Skirmish 2v2 is a smart palette cleanser, and the APAC MFA rollout is a level playing field move that ranked players should take seriously. Keep your eyes peeled for the 12.04 cleanup, and in the meantime, give the new queue a whirl. Whether you are a Gekko main learning the new Reclaim rhythm or a duelist looking for pure aim battles, there is enough here to jump into the fray.
